Date: Saturday, April 27, 2-4pm

Prerequisite: Current or former Intro student

WORKSHOP: Own the Stage!

You belong on stage, and you should feel like it! This workshop will cover some basics of theatrical performance, such as stage picture, voice, and movement. With a better understanding of these fundamentals, participants will hopefully feel more comfortable moving and speaking in front of an audience. The workshop will also engage participants in calming and centering exercises, which can help relax nerves prior to a performance. If you have ever felt that a lack of stage experience will hinder your improv work, this workshop will help assure you that you have what it takes, regardless of any previous performance experience.

About the Instructor: Melissa Ford

Melissa got her start in scripted theatre, doing school plays from middle school onwards, but made the jump to long-form improv in 2015 and fell in love with the Harold. She has performed with several teams, including Midnight Library, Tiny Town, Tony Stanza, Introduce a Self, Hardly Working, and is a frequent performer on HIT Bits nights. She has also coached the HIT house team Barely Adulting, where she was thrilled to finally make some use of her education degree! Melissa cuts her own hair, because she's not afraid of anything (except heights).
